Lorna Strothers-Lewis was selected as the Director, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), on December 5, 2009. She is responsible for the oversight of OPM's internal EEO Complaints Processing and Special Emphasis Programs, which supports OPM's mission to retain and honor a world class workforce. Ms. Lewis is an advisor to the Director, OPM on internal EEO and Diversity matters, she prepares OPM's Final Agency Decisions, and she provides EEO related training to all OPM employees.

Ms. Lewis began working for OPM in 2005. She has over 20 years EEO experience. Prior to coming to OPM Ms. Lewis was a Program Manager for Civil Rights with the United States Department of Agriculture, and an EEO Manager with the United States Postal Service. While working at the Department of Agriculture she was noted for the implementation of an intake processing system for Title VI Equal Opportunity complaints. During her tenure with the Postal Service Ms. Lewis was responsible for the development of an effective EEO Complaints Processing Program in the Harrisburg PA District and she was instrumental in the development of the District Redress Program.

Ms. Lewis served in the United States Air Force and she is a retired United States Army Reserve Officer. During her 23 year tenure with United States Army Reserve, she served in the positions of Personnel Officer, Equal Opportunity Officer and Transportation Officer.

Ms. Lewis has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology, from LaSalle University, in Philadelphia, PA and she also holds an MBA from American Inter-Continental University. She resides in Burke VA with her daughter who attends East Carolina University.
