Retirement Services conducts various surveys throughout the year. These surveys are sent to a particular sector of the annuitant population.
One of these surveys, the Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS) Annuity Supplement Survey was recently mailed to all FERS non-disability annuitants under age 62 receiving an annuity supplement. These individuals are receiving a supplemental payment in addition to their FERS annuity benefit.
Continued receipt of the annuity supplement is subject to an earnings test every year and can be affected by wages earned by the annuitant after retirement. Retirement Services surveys these annuitants every year while they are in receipt of the annuity supplement to ask for reported earnings. The annuitant must complete the form; sign, date and include a daytime telephone number. If you are a FERS annuitant and receive one of these surveys, please complete it and return it to Retirement Services as soon as possible.

As January comes to a close, it is time to start assembling everything you need to file your Federal income taxes. The “hard copy” 1099Rs are hot off the press and will be in the mail this week. There is, however, a way to access your 1099R today.
Simply go to www.servicesonline.opm.gov (SOL). If you do not remember your password for SOL, instructions are provided on how to get a new one. While in SOL, make sure we have your correct mailing address and email address to ensure you receive future correspondence from us.
If you enjoy getting your 1099R quickly and easily online, and have not already done so, elect to “opt in” to go green and skip the “hard copy” entirely next year!
You can return to SOL if you need to tweak your tax withholding for FY 2015…or if you need another copy of your 1099R later.
There is no need to call Retirement Services during business hours, as SOL is available 24-7 during tax season and year-round!
Did you hear? Federal retirees and survivors will receive a 1.7% Cost-of-Living adjustment (COLA) effective December 1, 2014. You will see the increase in the January 2, 2015, payment.
Why wait until you receive your annual mailer at the end of December to see your new monthly annuity amount. Simply go to Services Online (SOL) (www.servicesonline.opm.gov) to see your new annuity amount. If you do not remember your password for SOL, simply follow the instructions to get a new one.
While on SOL, why not do some annuity housekeeping by checking to make sure we have your correct mailing address, email address and the proper Federal or state tax withholdings.
Additionally, help us reduce our carbon footprint by opting in to receive your annual mailer and 1099R electronically. Receiving them electronically will allow you to receive the information sooner and save them directly to your computer for easy access in the future.
