CFC MEMORANDUM 2001-04

MEMORANDUM FOR PRINCIPAL COMBINED FUND ORGANIZATIONS (PCFOs) AND LOCAL FEDERAL COORDINATING COMMITTEES (LFCCs)

As you may know, three new national federations have been approved by the Office of CFC Operations (OCFCO) for participation in the 2001 CFC campaign.  These federations are: Christian Charities USA, Hispanic United Fund, and Independent Charities of America. 

In order to assign a unique series to each of these groups, OCFCO will need to go beyond its traditional numbering system of 0100 - 2900 (3000 and above had been reserved for local agencies).  Therefore, the 9900 series will be used to identify the new federations and their members on the 2001 national/international list.  Any local agencies that are currently using codes in this series will need to be re-assigned by the PCFO.  We greatly regret any inconvenience this may cause. 

As the nonprofit sector continues to grow, the CFC has experienced an annual increase in the number of participating organizations at both the national/international and local levels.  To ensure that this issue does not recur in the future, OCFCO will assess future options for an adjusted code system that will accommodate growth in the coming years.  We will notify you of any future changes well in advance of the 2002 campaign.
