Half-Day Closing of Government
Departments and Agencies on Thursday, December 24, 1998 |
The President has signed an Executive order that excuses executive branch non-Postal
Service employees from duty for the last half of the scheduled workday on Thursday,
December 24, 1998, except those who, in the judgment of the head of the agency,
cannot be excused for reasons of national security, defense, or other essential
public business. This period will be treated as a holiday for pay and leave
purposes. A copy of the Executive order is provided at Attachment
1. Attachment 2 contains pay and leave administration
instructions for affected employees.
