VHP strives to maintain a network that offers quality healthcare to all its members. The VHP nursing staff reviews every chart daily on every member while hospitalized. The Utilization Review/Quality Management (UR/QM) Committee reviews all charts in which there was a treatment variance noted by the nurse and they review all adverse outcomes. The UR/QM Committee then makes recommendations to the provider regarding policy changes to prevent that variance from recurring.

The VHP Provider Relations department performs on-site reviews of all primary care physicians as part of our credentialing process to assure the provider has:

  1. handicap accessibility; service accessibility; emergency procedures and equipment in the office setting;
  2. fire safety measures clearly defined;
  3. medications stored, maintained and locked appropriately;
  4. sharp containers and biohazardous materials disposed of properly; and
  5. confidential maintenance of medical records.

VHP will continue profiling physicians and hospitals on outcomes. VHP, also, follows outcomes of frequently performed procedures with comparison to other national data on those procedures. This allows VHP to make changes regarding our provider panel and/or changes to the guidelines for frequently performed procedures.

VHP works with its providers to provide influenza vaccines at the local employers facilities.
