Inaugural Lead Program Commencement Ceremony

OPM Director John Berry and Agency Leaders will gather to confirm the first graduates of the Federal government's premier leadership and development training program

Washington, DC - On June 28, 2010, U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director John Berry and agency representatives from the Department of the Army, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Defense, and the Defense Commissary Agency will recognize and confirm the first graduates of OPM's Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) Certificate Program. Established in 2008, LEAD is a training program that provides the critical leadership skills needed for a Federal career - from Team Lead to Executive.

Associate Director of Human Resources Solutions, Kay Ely, also will announce the updated LEAD curriculum for FY 2011.

Berry has committed to "recruit, retain and honor a world-class workforce" and this ceremony will acknowledge the work OPM has done to develop a premier and competitive training program for Federal leaders that is key to retaining highly valued talent.

OPM recognizes that it must empower a new generation of talent to replace today's retiring leaders. This is a challenging yet exciting time to work in the Federal government, as global awareness, technological advances and workplace diversity combine to shape the potential for far-reaching social impact.
