OPM applauds introduction of Part-time Reemployment of Federal Annuitants bill

Linda M. Springer, Director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management issued the following statement in response to today's introduction of the Part-time Reemployment of Federal Annuitants  bill by Senators Susan M. Collins, John Warner and George V. Voinovich.

"I thank and congratulate Senators Collins, Warner and Voinovich for introducing this legislation which will assist in maintaining an effective Federal civilian workforce. Their Part-time Reemployment of Federal Annuitants bill will provide us access to these employees' wealth of knowledge.

"Many Federal retirees would welcome the opportunity to continue serving their nation. The Collins-Warner-Voinovich bill provides a way to keep their valuable talent at work for the American people and benefits new entrants in the Federal workforce because of the rehired annuitants' experience and insight.

"I look forward to continuing to work with Congress to secure successful enactment of this bill."
