OPM Awards Contract for Investigations Support Services

Washington, D.C.  --  The U.S. Office of Personnel Management has awarded a contract to USIS to provide a range of administrative services in support of agency professionals who perform background investigations on employees, contractors and job applicants who need security clearances or clearance updates.

Under terms of the contract, USIS will support background investigations of OPM's Federal Investigations Processing Center in Boyers, Pennsylvania, and provide mailroom and data entry services, maintain case files, screen investigative materials and a range of other administrative functions.

"I have every confidence USIS will provide outstanding support services to our investigations program," said Kathy Dillaman, OPM's Associate Director, Federal Investigative Services. "The contributions of USIS employees will contribute greatly to the smooth and efficient performance of our investigators whose work is so vital."

OPM conducts approximately 90 percent of background investigations federal agencies require for individuals needing clearances ranging from sensitive to top secret.

The contract with USIS has a base period, with three option years. If fully exercised, the contract would run through September 30, 2010 and have a maximum value of $260 million.
