OPM Convenes Summit on Human Capital Innovations
Washington, D.C. - U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Linda M. Springer convened the second annual Human Capital Innovations Summit this week. This meeting of Chief Human Capital Officers (CHCOs) is designed to share the most current advances in strategic workforce management.
"Exchanging information and ideas among human capital leaders in the Federal community is vital to the continued transformation toward an effective Federal Government," Springer said. "This summit exemplifies OPM's ongoing effort to address employee related needs and challenges."
CHCOs, Deputy CHCOs and Human Resources Directors attending the summit heard presentations from officials with the Environmental Protection Agency, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Labor, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, and the Department of State. These agencies have made significant strides in implementing the Human Capital Assessment and Accountability Framework (HCAAF), a strategic human capital management tool created by OPM. The HCAAF is designed to provide all agencies direction and guidance in transforming the Federal Government into a high performing workforce capable of meeting emerging demands.
The summit also focused on how agencies can continue moving strategic management reforms forward during the transition to a new administration. In addition, it provided the opportunity to explore what role CHCOs can play in assuring continuation of agency missions during the transition.
OPM will use results of the summit discussions to share information and make recommendations on effective approaches to respond to human capital needs.
