Washington, DC - Speaking at the 14^th Annual National Association of Hispanic Federal Executives' (NAHFE) Diversity Training and Recruiting Conference in San Antonio, Texas, U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Linda M. Springer addressed the need for the federal government to continue building a workforce that draws on the strength of America's diversity.

"President George W. Bush is strongly committed to a federal workforce comprised of qualified Americans from all backgrounds," said Director Springer.

OPM has a comprehensive outreach strategy to recruit highly qualified job applicants from all backgrounds, including Hispanics, for federal vacancies. Recently, OPM sent federal executives to host career booths at Hispanic serving institutions to discuss federal job opportunities. OPM also is promoting the use of human resources flexibilities, giving federal supervisors and managers greater authority to more swiftly hire student interns and recent college graduates.

In addition, OPM has Spanish language pages on USAJOBS.gov, the federal government's premier website for job announcements and employment information, and it has produced Somos America, employment information in Spanish.
