OPM Director Kay Coles James: "Nearly 1 Million Americans Post Resumes on USAJOBS Website As Interest In Public Service Grows"

More than 106 million visits since launch of redesigned site in August 2003

Washington, D.C. - U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Kay Coles James recently announced more than 106 million visits have been logged and 944,000 new resumes created on the www.usajobs.gov website since the re-launch in August 2003.

"The numbers continue to show our country's citizens have tremendous interest in serving America in the Federal civil service," said Director James. "We've continued to focus on providing a top quality product and OPM continues to respond quickly to user feedback and incorporate helpful changes to the USAJOBS web site, as the American Customer Satisfaction Index proved."

The recent release of American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) showed that OPM's USAJOBS website scored a 76, which exceeds the overall private sector score (74.3) as well as the overall government sector score (72.1). "The ACSI rating is a testament to our commitment to provide the best possible product to help those who want to serve the country find a good fit for their skills and talents, especially when one considers that USAJOBS earned higher scores than portals such as MSN and AOL," Director James added. "We have focused on continually increasing quality and capacity, and our ACSI score suggests we've been successful thus far."

James concluded, "The success of USAJOBS shows that Federal job seekers continually find a user friendly website. As a result, this leads to more interest in the Federal civil service, which continues to help us in our efforts to hire the best and brightest for the Federal work force."

The USAJOBS website, a key e-government component in President George W. Bush's Management Agenda, is the premier website tool for finding Federal jobs.

The revamped website features a quicker job-search engine, sorting capacities, and accessibility for disabled users. Other features include storage for up to five online resumes, a personal career management home, an option to make resumes searchable by agency recruiters, and an opportunity to create and save application letters.
