OPM Hosts Forum on the Recovery Act
Provides guidance on Human Resources hiring tools
Washington, DC - The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) hosted a forum for agencies implementing provisions of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. During the meeting, OPM HR experts briefed participants on human capital strategies that can be used to assure they have the talent they need to implement the Act.
Opening the meeting, OPM Acting Director Kathie Whipple said: "The large turnout for this event is testimony once again to the critical role human capital plays in getting results for the American people." More than 200 people attended the meeting.
"We at OPM are committed to supporting you as you formulate and execute the human capital strategies that will accomplish your agency's mission," continued Whipple.
In addition to information on federal hiring initiatives and flexibilities, participants were briefed on appointing authorities for veterans and flexibilities for acquisition and information technology. OPM also committed to a three-pronged strategy of support for Recovery Act management, including interagency forums, priority clearance procedures, and on-site engagement with agencies requesting assistance.
