OPM Opens Office at Walter Reed

Washington, DC- As a part of its commitment to provide employment information to current and former members of the military, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) has opened an office at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center (WRAMC).

"Those who have served in the military bring important and unique qualifications to the workforce," said OPM Director Linda M. Springer. "I know that OPM's employment information office at Walter Reed will provide valuable help to those who want to continue their service to their country."

The new office's main responsibilities include: coordinating outreach activities with WRAMC Transition Assistance Program (TAP) staff; providing information on federal employment to military personnel and family members; serving as a point of contact for other federal agencies interested in providing employment opportunities; providing military personnel transitioning out of the armed services with federal employment and educational information; and, providing transitioning military personnel one-on-one employment counseling to include employment assistance with the USAJOBS application process.

"Many veterans are eager to learn about the federal government and the services it provides to the American people," said Springer. "OPM's Walter Reed office will give interested job candidates up-to-date human resources information on the federal workforce and the challenging job opportunities available."

The OPM office is staffed by an employment specialist and is open three days per week.
