Washington, DC - U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Acting Director Dan G. Blair recently issued a letter commending over 500 attendees for their participation in the Federal Asian Pacific American Council's (FAPAC) 20^th Annual Congressional Seminar and National Leadership Training Conference held in Crystal City, Virginia.

Acting Director Blair said, "The FAPAC Conference presents a golden opportunity to provide training for the dedicated corps of Asian American and Pacific Islanders and other federal employees who serve our nation.  OPM is committed to promoting equal employment opportunities on all levels to the best and the brightest America has to offer.  The federal government continues to be an employer of choice for people of all backgrounds.  The FAPAC conference is an excellent forum to recognize those who have already made contributions while encouraging others to join the ranks of public service."

The FAPAC Conference's target audience is members of the Asian American and Pacific Islanders community who have made significant contributions to their nation, specifically those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. The Conference's main objective is to promote diversity for Asians and Pacific Islanders in the federal government and the District of Columbia city government.

OPM has actively carried its recruitment message to other important conferences over the past year, including: the Minority Access, Inc. Fifth National Role Models Conference; League of United Latin American Citizens Annual Conference; Annual National Image Training Conference, National Association of Hispanic Federal Executives Conference; HACU Summit on Diversity; LATINA Style Magazine's 2004 Best Practice on Diversity Conference; and the Asian Pacific American Federal Career Advancement Summit Conference co-hosted with the Department of Labor.
