OPM Delivers Over 1200 Toys to Children of Service Members and OPM Employees in Need

Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) recently concluded its annual toy drive which provided gifts to children of service members, as well as OPM employees in need. OPM staff recently delivered over 1,200 toys to the children of service men and women aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt (USSTR) and the USS Eisenhower. Additionally, approximately 100 gifts were distributed to children of OPM families in active military duty, those experiencing financial difficulties and those impacted by Hurricane Katrina.

OPM Director Linda M. Springer said, "Once again, OPM employees have made this holiday season very special for the children of men and women deployed in service to our country as well as for children in need."

The toys, collected from OPM offices in Washington, D.C.; Atlanta and Macon, GA; Norfolk, VA; Fort Meade, MD; Shepherdstown, WV; Kansas City, MO; Boyers and Pittsburgh, PA; Chicago, IL; San Francisco, CA; and San Antonio, TX, were distributed at two separate holiday parties held at the Norfolk Naval Base in honor of the families of the USSTR and USS Eisenhower.

OPM, which is housed in the Theodore Roosevelt Federal Building, officially ‘adopted' the USS Theodore Roosevelt shortly after September 11, 2001 when the ship and crew were fighting the war on terror in the Middle East. This marks the fifth year OPM has conducted its toy drive.
