OPM Improves USAJOBS to Make it More User-Friendly

Changes include enhanced search capabilities and a cleaner interface, look

Washington, DC - Today, the United States Office of Personnel Management announced a major redesign of USAJOBS.gov, the main portal for Americans to access and apply for employment opportunities with the Federal government.

In order to make USAJOBS even more efficient and user-friendly, OPM has made a number of upgrades to the site.  The changes were based on usability studies as well as extensive feedback from applicants through customer satisfaction surveys and focus groups.

“USAJOBS is a great example of a hugely successful internet job site, the one that is helping people find Federal jobs,” said OPM Director John Berry.  “With the changes made to USAJOBS, and with our commitment to creating a simpler and more transparent Federal hiring process, we are giving applicants the information and tools they need to find the best Federal job for them.”

The refreshed USAJOBS enhances the user experience by:

  • Updating the look and feel
  • Introducing social media and increased personalization
  • Improving site navigation, making it easier to move about the site
  • Enhancing the job search tool so applicants find the right job for them
  • Streamlining employment information to ensure guidance is readily available
  • Providing targeted resources for students, executives, veterans and those with disabilities

"I am committed to continual improvements in USAJOBS for all those who have responded to the call to serve," said Berry.

USAJOBS has served as the Federal Government's source for federal employment since August 4, 2003. "On a typical day, there are more than 450,000 visitors to USAJOBS, and more than 9,400 potential job applicants establish accounts on the site."
