U.S. Office of Personnel Management Continues Nationwide Search for the Best and Brightest in Miami, Florida

4,500 Job Seekers Attend the Miami Coconut Grove Convention Center in Search of Federal Opportunities

Washington, DC - The successful 'Working for America' recruitment fairs sponsored by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) continued its nationwide tour in Miami, Florida. The Miami fair which attracted 4,500 eager job seekers was the eighth fair in a series of eleven that began in Los Angeles, California in September 2003.

"The goal of the recruitment fairs is to provide forums for Federal agencies to showcase current vacancies available locally and nationwide and connect with qualified candidates," James said. "The fairs aim to reach out to and attract America's best and brightest to the exciting opportunities and noble calling of public service."

The recruitment fair featured 34 Federal agencies and highlighted over 17,000 Federal career opportunities nationwide. Each agency that participates in a fair has been asked to track offers and new hires. A list of agency participants and positions can be seen at the OPM.gov website by clicking on the USAJobs link or by going directly to www.usajobs.gov. Future locations include Denver, Colorado, San Diego, California and New York, New York.

"These fairs are a crucial part of our overall efforts to fix what is all too often a cumbersome and confusing hiring process," James said. "We are creating opportunities for individuals to cut through the red-tape and meet first-hand with the people who do the hiring."

The recruitment fairs highlight the Federal government's many career opportunities and the varied fields of interest available to applicants. The fair also showcase the U.S. government as an equal opportunity employer of first choice.
