OPM to Hold Media Briefing on Compensation Reform
Following the briefing, reporters are invited to attend OPM’s
Interagency BBQ in celebration of Public Service Recognition Week


WASHINGTON – On Wednesday, May 8, 2002, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management will hold a briefing for members of the media on its recently released White Paper on compensation reform.

This is the same briefing that was given to members of the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government’s Executive Session on the Future of Public Service on April 29.

OPM is a prime driving force behind the human capital issue within the Federal Government and is responsible for the management of human capital within the President’s Management Agenda.

Following the press briefing, the media is invited to attend a barbecue honoring OPM and other government employees in celebration of Public Service Recognition Week. OPM Director Kay Coles James will offer brief remarks at the barbecue. In addition, Steve Perry, Administrator of the General Services Administration, and Gale Norton, Secretary of the Interior, are tentatively scheduled to speak. The cost of lunch is approximately $7.00.
