Washington, D.C. -On July 23, the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) will launch its new e-Training website, the Gov Online Learning Center. This module is part of the e-Government initiatives that OPM is tasked with managing and creating."
"This e-Learning module announced today is key to addressing training and support of the President's human capital initiative. It is my hope that it will aid in the building of a more talented and skilled Federal workforce," said Kay Coles James, the Director of OPM. "It is especially gratifying for OPM and OMB to work with our partner agencies on this important project."
The e-government initiative is a central component of the President's Management Agenda (PMA), and the Office of Management and Budget has been tasked with overseeing the implementation of the 24 e-government initiatives. In addition to the e-Learning module, OPM accepted the opportunity to take the lead on four additional projects: e-Payroll, e-Clearance, Recruitment One Stop, and Enterprise HR Integration. All five of OPM's e-Government projects fall under the Internal Effectiveness and Efficiency component of e-Government.
"The President has made it very clear that his intent is to put the very best training opportunities in the hands of Federal employees and managers," said James. "This is a perfect example of his vision."
The e-Training initiative will achieve several goals. First, it will support the President's Management Agenda by simplifying and unifying e-training services across government in order to improve efficiency and effectiveness of government operations. Second, it will enhance agency human capital initiatives by supporting or leveraging existing e-Training resources, providing a focal point for their access across agencies that transform the way government provides learning opportunities to employees. Lastly, it will advance continuous learning as a strategic business investment that promotes organization agility, cost efficiencies, and improvements in performance.
