Washington, D.C. - The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) recently received the 2003 Explorer Award for its e-Training Initiative/Gov Online Learning Center for best practices application and e-Government success. The award, given by the Government Solutions Center at its recent awards ceremony, is presented to federal, state, and local government agencies’ e-Government initiatives that best exemplify improved government operations and streamlined processes.
Currently, there are 51,000 registered Gov Online users and over 24,000 course completions. Thirty-seven free courses are available on the site with more than 2000 courses available on a fee-for-service basis. A major enhancement is scheduled to take place next month.
“OPM and its efforts fulfill President Bush’s promise to create a citizen-centered, results-oriented government,” remarked OPM Director Kay Coles James. “This award recognizes OPM’s efforts to drive access to training and workplace skills governmentwide, and we wanted this tool to support the president’s human capital initiatives.”
The e-Training Initiative/Gov Online Learning Center supports the career development of the federal work force by unifying, simplifying, and increasing access to high quality e-Training products and services that advance the accomplishments of agency missions.
