OPM’s New USAJOBS Website Successfully Migrates 18,157 Jobs
OPM notified 292,679 job seekers and 740 recruiters of the website changes by email. Today’s migrations were completed with a 99.57% accuracy rate. The 78 job listings with errors were fixed and reposted today.
“OPM is committed to
advancing President Bush's pledge to make the federal government more
citizen-centered and customer friendly,” remarked OPM Director Kay Coles James. “We will continue to drive hard for both the
policy changes and the technological advancements necessary to reform the federal
hiring process.
The USAJOBS website is the one-stop source for federal jobs and employment information for the federal government. It is part of the Recruitment One-Stop initiative designed to make applying for a federal job easier and more flexible than ever before.
“The website has new features such as a quicker job-search engine, sorting capacities, and accessibility for disabled users,” remarked James.
“We encourage users to contact us with suggestions and feedback,” said OPM’s e-Government Program Director Norman Enger. “OPM is constantly monitoring and responding to website feedback from users and human resource managers from other agencies to make sure we offer them the most effective and efficient job-seeking tool. We are especially interested in feedback as we move ahead on schedule to implement the third module this fall.”
Other new features available to website users include storage for up to five online resumes; a personal career management home; an option to make resumes searchable by agency recruiters; and an opportunity to create and save application letters.
The Recruitment One-Stop initiative is one of twenty-four e-Government initiatives outlined in the President’s Management Agenda, President Bush’s strategy for making the federal government more focused on citizens and results, and one of five e-Government initiatives owned by OPM.
OPM oversees the federal work force and provides the American public with up-to-date employment information. OPM also supports U.S. agencies with personnel services and policy leadership including staffing tools, guidance on labor-management relations and programs to improve work force performance.
