Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Kay Coles James has selected Rhonda K. Diaz to head the e-Government initiative that will lead the federal government's passage into an automated human resources records management system and ease the transfer of employee records between agencies.
James said Diaz's appointment as OPM's project manager for Enterprise Human Resources Integration (EHRI) had been influenced by her experience in designing and managing a variety of personnel systems and programs, as well as her most recent contributions as the agency's Acting Deputy Associate Director for HR Systems Requirements and Strategies.
"I am fortunate to have Rhonda on my team of professionals that will continue to fulfill President Bush's commitment to deliver for the American people a government that is citizen-centered, results-oriented and market-based," said James. "It is long overdue that employment records be automated, so that when employees move to another agency, so too will their personal information on such items as health-care enrollment, leave accrual status and retirement."
Once completed, EHRI will facilitate the electronic transfer of HR data throughout the government, eliminating the need for paper employee records. EHRI is one of five e-Government initiatives OPM is managing under President Bush's Management Agenda.
During her tenure at OPM, Diaz also has served as Acting Assistant Director for Workforce Information. In this role, Diaz recommended policy and managed various governmentwide records systems.
Before joining OPM, Diaz was the Chief of Systems Modernization and Deployment (Regionalization and Systems Modernization Division) at the Department of Defense's Civilian Personnel Management Service.
Diaz has a bachelor's degree in sociology from Western New Mexico University and a master's degree in human resources from San Francisco's Golden Gate University.
