Telework Issues Working Group Minutes
The Telework Issues Working Group, co-chaired by Billy Michael and Mallie Burruss, met at the GSA, 1800 F Street, NW, Room 5240 from 10:00 a.m. to noon on January 24. 2001.
Attendees: Gail Guest, DOL; M. Theresa Noll, GSA; Garland Green, Treasury; Bruce Murray, Energy; Alisa Green, NIH/HHS; Sandy Olmsted, NIH/HHS; Louise McDonough, DoD; Beth Chaffee, HHS; Marjorie Adams, USDA; Joann Jones, USAID; Janice Lucas, VA; Peggy Rapp, DOC; Don Faulkner, DOT; Ron Patterson, OPM; Pat Bradley, CFTC; Lesley Wilson, GSA; Marge Higgins, GSA; Terry Poyner, DOS; Mallie Burruss, OPM; Wendell Joice, GSA; and Billy Michael, GSA.
Members were asked in earlier correspondence and in the meeting to identify, correct, and add workgroups that they want to work on, and as well want to lead.
Following is the list of issues and those who volunteered to take the lead in getting the groups going:
I. Legal/procurement - Bruce Murray
II. Telecommunications - Terry Poyner
III. Computers and other equipment - Don Faulkner
IV. Taxes - Wendell Joice
V. Worksite Health/Safety (OSHA) - Gail Guest
VI. Human Resources Management - Marge Adams
VII. Coop - Ron Patterson
VIII. General, Training, Support - Marge Higgins
It was decided that since there was only one person on the pay issues workgroup, that human resources management and pay would be merged. A suggestion was made that the telecommunications and computer groups be combined.
The following handouts were provided to the Workgroup:
- Suggested Generic Outline for Telework Issues Working Group Proceedings
- Armey Telecommuting News Article, CQ Daily Monitor, Tuesday, January 23, 2001
- OPM's Washington, DC Area Emergency Dismissal or Closure Procedures
- Gov Exec Magazine article, Time for Tele-work, January 22, 2001
It was decided that the next full Working Group meeting would be at GSA on February 28, 2001, at 10:00 a.m. (The time has now been changed from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.)
After the full Working Group meeting was over, members broke out into their smaller working groups and continued their planning for future meetings and fact-finding expeditions.
