Cord Chase

Cord Chase serves as the Chief Information Security Officer for OPM. In coordination with OPM senior leadership and other stakeholders, he is responsible for defining and implementing a technology strategic vision that aligns with the organization’s mission, objectives, and goals, while managing the appropriate IT risk for the agency. 

Mr. Chase also currently serves as the Co-Chair for the Federal, Chief Information Security Council.

Mr. Chase officially joined OPM in April of 2016 after serving as the Sr. Advisor for Cyber and National Security at Executive Office of the President where he was a Co-Founder of the Cybersecurity Unit. He was also responsible for the 2015 30-Day Cyber Sprint that helped the Federal Government enforce the use of two-factor authentication as well as other initiatives.

Mr. Chase joined Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in August 2014 as the Senior Advisor for Office of the Federal Chief Information Officer, where he was responsible for integrating OMB policies and guidance to create information advantages government-wide.

Mr. Chase joined Department of Agriculture in 2010 to establish the USDA Cybersecurity and Technologies programs. His work included moving the department towards adopting a maturity risk base frame work using smarter technology intertwined with modern processes. This allowed the IT functions in the OCIO to establish the appropriate policy to drive innovation.
