Jason Simmons

Jason Simmons was appointed Chief of Staff of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) in April 2017.  His role is to assist the OPM Director in providing strategic advice and operational oversight to accomplish OPM's objectives.  He has more than 16 years of progressive leadership experience within the private and public sector.

Prior to entering federal service, Jason was responsible for Intergovernmental Affairs for the Office of the Governor of North Carolina.  In this role he managed state government relations between local governmental officials and external stakeholders.  Additionally, he served as a Senior Advisor to the Secretary of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services with a focus on operational efficiencies and organizational redesign.

Jason was formerly enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserves as a Combat Medic and Mental Health Specialist.

Jason received a Master of Arts in International Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from the University of South Carolina.  He is married and has two daughters.
