Kamala Vasagam brings nearly 20 years of legal experience spanning both the government and private sectors to her role as General Counsel for the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. As General Counsel, Kamala provides legal advice to the Director, the agency and its staff, while overseeing the operations of the Office of the General Counsel.
Before joining OPM, Kamala served as a Special Assistant to the President in the Presidential Personnel Office at the White House, where she handled the domestic agency and the inspector general portfolios. She previously served as Special Counsel to the President of Legal Services Corporation (LSC), which provides civil legal aid to low-income Americans. Prior to her tenure as Special Counsel, she served as Program Counsel in the Office of Compliance and Enforcement at LSC where she focused on regulatory compliance and oversight issues. Early in her legal career, Kamala was in private practice with firms specializing in employment law and corporate transactions.
Kamala received her B.A. and a J.D. from The Catholic University of America. She and her family reside in Alexandria, VA.
