Revised Advisory 2002-3

CFC Memorandum 2002-04

TO: CFC PRINCIPAL COMBINED FUND ORGANIZATIONS AND LOCAL FEDERAL COORDINATING COMMITTEES
FROM: MARA T. PATERMASTER
DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF CFC OPERATIONS
SUBJECT: 2002 CFC CHARITY CODES - REVISED ADVISORY 2002-3

This is a follow-up to our recent advisory, 2002-3, notifying you that OPM would need to reserve the 9600-9900 series for national/international organizations. At that time OPM anticipated the need to secure these numbers to assign to new participating national federations and national unaffiliated applicants.

Having received all national applications, we conclude that OPM will need only the 9800 series to assign new codes for participating charities in the 2002 national listing. All campaigns which may have used numbers in the 9600 and 9700 series may now continue to do so without altering their local listing.

It is our expectation that a long-term solution will be in place for the 2003 campaign year, following a careful assessment of the various options for the assignment of charity codes.
