The USA Freedom Corps
CFC Memorandum 2002-09
TO: | MEMORANDUM FOR LOCAL FEDERAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE AND PRINCIPAL COMBINED FUND ORGANIZATIONS |
---|---|
FROM: | MARA T. PATERMASTER DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF CFC OPERATIONS |
SUBJECT: | The USA Freedom Corps |
"Everyone Can Do Something" is the theme of a new public service advertising campaign launched last week by the USA Freedom Corps, the President's Call to Service. Designed to help future volunteers make a difference in their communities, the initiative has developed the most comprehensive online compilation of volunteer opportunities now available at USA Freedom Corps. The site offers opportunities to get involved through more than 50,000 organizations sorted according to volunteer interests and location. Individuals interested in volunteering can search for opportunities in the following categories:
- One-time Events for those with limited time;
- Ongoing Programs such as tutoring or mentoring;
- Full-time Service such as Teach For America or programs through AmeriCorps;
- Volunteer Networks such as Points of Light, Network for Good, or United Way agencies;
- International service opportunities such as Peace Corps;
- Volunteer opportunities you can do from your home or computer.
The CFC offers a wonderful opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of volunteering. You can share this new venue with donors by placing an insert in the CFC brochure; integrating a link to USA Freedoms Corps' site on your website; or sharing information at campaign events. Visit this new web site and share this important information with donors in your campaign area to offer them a new way to get involved.
Best wishes for a successful campaign!
