Hurricane Katrina, Rita, and Wilma Relief Contributions and the Combined Federal Campaign

CFC Memorandum 2005-10

September 1, 2005

TO: LOCAL FEDERAL COORDINATING COMMITTEES AND PRINCIPAL COMBINED FUND ORGANIZATIONS
FROM: MARA T. PATERMASTER
DIRECTOR, OFFICE OF THE COMBINED FEDERAL CAMAPIGN (OCFC)
SUBJECT: HURRICANE Katrina, Rita, and Wilma RELIEF CONTRIBUTIONS AND THE COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN

In response to inquires by Federal employees and agencies for ways to help immediately with Hurricane Katrina, Rita, and Wilma disaster relief efforts through the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) is making available on its CFC website, effective September 2, 2005, a downloadable CFC pledge card. For your convenience, a list of the CFC participating charities identified by FEMA as involved in disaster relief efforts has been provided in addition to the complete list of national CFC participating charities in the event donors wish to give to additional charities.

Many of the national organizations currently involved in the relief efforts are also CFC charities. Because the list of participating organizations is still evolving, there may be others charities, not noted by OPM, that Federal employee donors may wish to contribute to for relief efforts.

We ask that all local campaigns post a notice on their CFC websites, adapting the attached model message to your campaign. If you do not have a CFC website, please make this message available to Loaned Executives, Coordinators and Key Workers for distribution to all Federal employees in your area.

The message attached also will be posted on the OPM-CFC website effective close of business today, September 1.

This special Hurricane Katrina, Rita, and Wilma relief effort should not prevent or interfere with the implementation of the regular CFC solicitation process. As noted on the sample message, Federal donors should be reminded that all CFC charities continue to need their support, in addition to those assisting Hurricane Katrina, Rita, and Wilma victims. Questions should be directed by e-mail to mark.lambert@opm.gov or to curtis.rumbaugh@opm.gov. Thank you very much for your cooperation at this critical time.
