OPM Presents the 2007 Presidential Award for Management Excellence

Washington, D.C. - During a ceremony at the Museum of Women in the Arts, six federal agencies received the 2007 Presidential Award for Management Excellence. The event was hosted by U. S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Director Linda M. Springer.

"I am pleased to honor the extraordinary work done by the recipients of this important award," said Springer. "Their outstanding contributions help our government work efficiently and effectively."

The Presidential Award for Management Excellence, which is administered by OPM through the President's Quality Award program, recognizes those federal agencies and programs that have placed a high priority on managerial excellence. It is also the highest award given to Executive Branch agencies for management excellence. This year's awards went to the Environmental Protections Agency, Department of Agriculture and the General Services Administration. The Department of Health and Human Services received two awards.

The 2007 recipients of the Presidential Award for Management Excellence and the categories for which they were recognized are:

  • Environmental Protection Agency - Overall Management
  • Department of Health and Human Services, Department of Agriculture and the General Services Administration - Agencywide Performance in the Governmentwide Management Initiative
  • Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Housing and Urban Development - Innovative and Exemplary Practices
