NEWS: OPM Updates Classification and Standards for Accounting, Auditing, and Budget Group

WASHINGTON, DC - The U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) released the final Job Family Position Classification and Qualification Standards for professional and administrative occupations in the Accounting, Auditing, and Budget Group for implementation by Federal agencies.

The job family standard provides information on the occupational series definitions, titling instructions, occupational information, and evaluation criteria in the following series: Financial Administration, Accounting, Auditing, and Budget Analysis. More specifically, the Auditing series was updated to provide better distinctions among Financial Auditing, Performance Auditing, and Attestation Engagements.

The qualification standards provide updates in educational requirements for the Auditing series. OPM also updated the classification and qualification standards for the Revenue Agent and Tax Specialist that will be used specifically for the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).

Lastly, OPM advised agencies that they must apply the job family standard to covered positions within twelve months after the release of this memo. Also, the revised qualification standards for Performance Auditing shall go into effect immediately and qualify candidates for positions in these occupational series upon the release of this memo.
