Office of Evaluations

The Office of Evaluations provides the Inspector General with an alternative method to conduct independent, credible, and thorough reviews of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) programs and operations to prevent waste, fraud and abuse. The Office of Evaluations can quickly analyze OPM concerns or issues that need immediate attention by using a variety of review methods and evaluation techniques. The Office of Evaluations reports provide OPM management with findings and practical recommendations that will assist in enhancing program operations, efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

The Inspector General Reform Act of 2008 requires that Inspectors General adhere to the Quality Standards for Inspection, commonly referred to as the “Blue Book.” In June 2010, the Council of the Inspectors General on Integrity and Efficiency adopted the Quality Standards for Inspection as the professional standards for all inspections and evaluations performed by its members The IG Reform Act requires compliance with these standards.
