    Our Inspector General Organization

    Thomas W. South was appointed Deputy Assistant Inspector General for Investigations (DAIGI) in January 2018.  In this role, he is part of the management team responsible for overseeing a nationwide staff dedicated to the investigation of fraud, waste, and abuse in programs and operations administered by the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM).   Prior to his employment with the Office of the Inspector General (OIG), Mr. South worked for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

    Prior to joining FDA, Mr. South worked for the United States Postal Service-Office of the Inspector General, the Department of Labor, and the Drug Enforcement Administration.  He also served with the United States Army. Mr. South earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) Degree from Florida State University.
