Dealing with Poor Performers: From Counseling to Taking Action

March 13, 2018| 8:30am – 12:00pm | Washington, DC

Addressing poor performance can seem like an uphill battle, or worse, a losing battle. This course guides supervisors on the steps required before taking action on poor performance. The instructor will also offer guidance on improving communication, providing early counseling, and providing an opportunity for improvement. Finally, the course differentiates between the two authorities used for performance-based actions (5 CFR Part 432 and Part 752) when performance continues to decline. Participants will receive practical checklists for each step in the process to ensure actions will be sustained. Learn more about the Dealing with Poor Performers training.

Participants will also engage in an interactive role-play exercise, based on real world scenarios, to practice conducting feedback discussions.
