  • How far is the WMDC from Denver? View more
    The WMDC is located in the eastern suburb of Aurora and is only 16 miles from downtown Denver. The Red Lion Hotel Denver SE provides free hotel shuttle service to/from the airport. There is also a  light-rail transit stop close to the WMDC. Information is available at the hotel bell stand.

  • What is the weather like? View more
    Shepherdstown is located in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains and the weather is similar to weather in DC, but often a few degrees cooler. Even in summer the evenings can be cool, so it would be advisable to bring along a sweater during the summer.

  • How can I access my email while I am at the EMDC? View more
    The EMDC's Technology Center has computers with internet capability. If you need to access your work email, it will need to be web-based or you may bring your laptop that is configured for VPN. There is also wifi connection at the training center and hotel.

  • What are the weekend schedules for the Leadership for a Democratic Society (LDS) Program? View more
    The first weekend of each LDS program is a "working weekend" requiring attendance on Saturday and Sunday.    There are no program activities scheduled during the second and third weekend of the seven standard LDS programs offered each year. Program activities end at noon Friday and resume Monday for these sessions.

  • Will a LEAD Certificate translate into points on a job application? View more

  • Can my spouse or guest accompany me? View more
    Yes, but it is not recommended due to the intense nature of our seminars. If you choose to bring a spouse or guest, the cost for guests 18 years and older is $20/night, children who are 13-17 years old is $10/night and children who are 12 years old and under is free.  Dining room meals cost, per person: Breakfast buffet- $8, Lunch buffet - $9, Dinner buffet - $18. For specific information please call Angie Kutcher, Clarion Hotel EMDC Liaison, at 304-870-7021.

    You can find information about course content in the leadership catalog. The Program Director of the specific class can answer in depth questions about the curriculum. The Program Coordinator can answer logistical questions.  Please call 304-870-7021.

  • If I'm from the Denver area, do I have to stay in the hotel? View more
    No. As a local Colorado resident your agency has elected to have you participate at a discounted tuition rate. This saves your agency the cost of hotel lodging and the full per diem cost. Your tuition includes the cost of lunch, but not breakfast and dinner.
