Viet Tran
Deputy Director , Office of Communications
Viet Tran is the Deputy Director for the Office of Communications at the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) under the Biden-Harris Administration. Viet serves as a senior advisor to the OPM Director and senior agency leadership on communications messaging, execution, and strategies. In addition, Viet oversees the press team and interagency coordination related to the Office of Communications team. Before this role, Viet was the Press Secretary for OPM.
Before OPM, Viet was a senior communications consultant to organizations, nonprofits, and state agencies, including the National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum, the California Department of Public Health, and American Civil Liberties Union California Action. Viet also previously served as a press secretary and on-record spokesperson for the Human Rights Campaign, the nation’s largest LGBTQI+ civil rights organization.
Viet has held various leadership capacities, including serving on the Board of Directors for the Conference on Asian Pacific American Leadership and as a regional ambassador with the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) under the Obama-Biden Administration. Viet also served as speechwriter and media advisor to the AAPIs for Biden coalition within the Biden-Harris Campaign.
