Leadership for a Democratic Society

  • What is the dress code at FEI? View more
    There is no specific dress code. FEI recommends "business casual" attire during class sessions and while interacting with colleagues.  Exceptions include Leadership for a Democratic Society program graduations and some off-campus site visits, which require business dress (e.g.: suit and tie for men) and fitness activities, which require appropriate athletic attire.

    The dress code is casual: slacks, jeans, sport shirts and open collar shirts are appropriate attire. The comfort level of our participants varies, so you may want to bring a sweater or jacket for classroom use. Bring athletic wear for working out.

    Each participant has an individual hotel room. You will be staying at the Red Lion Denver Hotel SE in Aurora. The WMDC staff will make your room reservation. You do not need to contact the hotel unless you have special requirements.  In that case, please contact the WMDC Hotel Coordinator, Kelly Krall, at 303-306-3367.

  • Is there evening work? What is there to do in the evenings and weekends? View more
    Normally there are no formal sessions in the evenings or weekends. However, participants should be prepared to meet with their presentation teams/consulting groups during evening hours. Denver and the Front Range have much to offer in the way of entertainment. Many participants get together for sightseeing, movies, shopping, skiing, or hiking. There is a fitness center located in the hotel. The hotel bell stand has details and additional information.  Information about the Mile Hi City will help you with your plans.

  • Can I take a LEAD seminar above the level of my current position? View more
    You may earn a LEAD certificate for a level of leadership, even if you are not at that level. We strongly recommend checking with your agency's training manager whether there are specific rules regarding taking seminars for a higher level than your current position.
