  • Can my spouse or guest accompany me? View more
    Yes, but it is not recommended due to the intense nature of our seminars. If you choose to bring a spouse or guest, the cost for guests 18 years and older is $20/night, children who are 13-17 years old is $10/night and children who are 12 years old and under is free.  Dining room meals cost, per person: Breakfast buffet- $8, Lunch buffet - $9, Dinner buffet - $18. For specific information please call Angie Kutcher, Clarion Hotel EMDC Liaison, at 304-870-7021.

  • How is the weather in the Denver area? View more
     Colorado weather can be unpredictable. Be prepared by bringing layered clothing. It can be chilly in the summer evenings. It is advisable to bring a warm coat and sweater in the winter, and a light sweater or jacket during spring and summer.

    You can information about course content in the leadership catalog. The Program Director of the specific class can answer in depth questions about the curriculum. The Program Coordinator can answer logistical questions. Please call 303-671-1010 to obtain specific phone numbers.

  • What if I have taken OPM seminars previously that are listed in the LEAD Certificate Program, can they count towards a LEAD certificate? View more
    If you have taken the seminar(s) after October 1, 2005, then they can count. The 3 year window for the LEAD Certificate will begin as of the start date of the first seminar taken. Be sure to leave yourself enough time to complete the necessary seminars for the LEAD Certificate. Click here for more information: LEAD Certificate Program

  • What are the rules for the LEAD Certificate Program? View more
    1. LEAD Certificates are issued for a specific level of leadership. 2. For a given level, you must complete the required number of seminars.  3. The last of the 5 seminars must be completed within 3 years of the start date of the first seminar taken. 4. It is recommended, but not required, to complete the Assessment and Core seminars first, before taking the Policy and Skill categories. 5. You may earn a LEAD Certificate for a level of leadership, even if you are not at that level, but we strongly recommend checking with your training manager to check whether your agency has any specific rules regarding taking seminars for a higher level than your current position.     Yes, but it is not recommended due to the intense nature of our seminars. There is an additional $10.00 per night room charge for guest(s) staying in your room. If they will be eating with you in the WMDC dining room the charges for guest(s) meals are: Breakfast-$8, Lunch-$12 and Dinner-$15.   • Is there evening work? What is there to do in the evenings and weekends? View more
    Normally there are no formal sessions in the evenings or weekends. However, participants should be prepared to meet with their presentation teams/consulting groups during evening hours. Participants often get together for sightseeing, movies, shopping, skiing or hiking in the historic Shepherdstown area.  The hotel front desk has information and the Shepherdstown Visitor's Center has a complete overview of events.

  • Once I have completed the 5 seminars for a level of leadership, how do I get my LEAD Certificate? View more
    1. Within 90 days of completing the last of the 5 seminars at a given level, email the list of the 5 seminars with their start dates to validate completion within the three year period to the OPM LEAD Certificate Program Manager at LEAD@opm.gov . 2. Once OPM has verified that you have completed your required seminars,  you will have 90 days to complete a capstone paper (4-6 pages). You will email the paper to the LEAD Certificate Program Manager at LEAD@opm.gov. 3. Once you receive a "Pass" rating on your capstone paper, the LEAD Certificate Program Manager will email  you the notification of the "Passing" rating as your official record for personnel. You will be notified about the date of the annual LEAD commencement ceremony in Washington DC where you will receive your certificate (signed by the OPM Director) with other LEAD graduates.  If you cannot attend the ceremony, your LEAD certificate will be mailed to you.   • Where can my agency purchase a seminar registration and how do we get billed for class attendance? View more
    Your agency can purchase a seminar several ways.  How to enroll is easy! For information about registering for MDC seminars, call 304-870-8008 or email us at register@opm.gov. You will be directed to the Customer Service Representative who works with your agency. Tuition that is covered by a training document will be billed at the end of the course. If a purchase card is used for registration it will be processed at the time of registration.
