OPM Meets Strategic and Operational Goals in August

Washington, D.C. -- The U.S. Office of Personnel Management today announced seven targeted goals from the agency's Strategic and Operational Plan were met during the month of August. Each goal was achieved ahead of schedule, with several focused on improving the Federal Government's competitive standing in the marketplace for professional and executive-level employees.

"The summer season for OPM employees has been full of accomplishments," said OPM Director Linda M. Springer. "We moved forward on initiatives that will have a positive impact on job seekers in the career and senior executive ranks, unveiled the new OPM website that has been redesigned for content and ease-of-use, and worked with the Chief Human Capital Officers Council on more-strategic use of job fairs."

The goals achieved in August are:

  • Reported on the Senior Executive Service (SES) performance-based pay system
  • Updated Executive Core Qualifications for the SES
  • Worked with the Chief Human Capital Officers (CHCO) Council to roll out a more-targeted job fair program
  • Developed - and now operational - Beta sites at more than 18 CHCO agencies
  • Overhauled OPM's website with a redesigned look and improved navigation tools
  • Became involved and achieved leadership positions with two national, professional organizations focused on HR policy, benefits and employee development
  • Held several Director media briefings

OPM also continues to air television ads to promote federal job opportunities for college graduates and other experienced professionals across the country.
