Statement by U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director John Berry on Memorial Day

"On Memorial Day, we honor the men and women of America's Armed Forces who have fallen in defense of our country and our ideals.

"America's civilian public servants are proud to support our men and women in uniform. Two-thirds of all Federal civilians work in national security, law enforcement, or veterans support. Tens of thousands have served on the ground in Iraq, Afghanistan and other war zones alongside our military in the last decade. And one out of every four Federal civilian employees is a veteran.

"The entire Federal family appreciates the sacrifices that our soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and their families make for all Americans every day."
