TERMINATION OF THIS TABLE APPROVED ON MARCH 2, 2021, PER DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE REQUEST. POSITIONS IT PREVIOUSLY COVERED NOW RECEIVE MARKET PAY UNDER THE AGENCY'S TITLE 38 AUTHORITY. THIS SPECIAL RATE TABLE INCLUDES LOCATIONS WHERE APPLICABLE GENERAL SCHEDULE LOCALITY RATES OF PAY EXCEED THE SPECIAL RATES OF PAY AT CERTAIN GRADES AND STEPS. EMPLOYEES WHO ARE COVERED BY A SPECIAL RATE SCHEDULE ARE ENTITLED TO THE APPLICABLE SPECIAL RATE WITHIN THAT SCHEDULE UNLESS THEY ARE ENTITLED TO A HIGHER RATE OF BASIC PAY UNDER OTHER AUTHORITY (E.G., A HIGHER LOCALITY RATE OR A RETAINED RATE). RATES LIMITED TO THE RATE FOR LEVEL IV OF THE EXECUTIVE SCHEDULE (5 U.S.C. 5305).

Individuals cannot request a special rate. Requests for special rates must come to OPM through agency headquarters.
