OPM’s First Serve America Hiring Fair Connects Early-Career Americans with Federal Jobs Nationwide

Candidates will interview virtually for opportunities across the country, including in human resources, finance, and procurement, and may receive tentative offers if they meet agency requirements

WASHINGTON, DC – Early-career Americans invited to OPM’s first-ever Serve America: Early Careers Hiring Fair on October 29 will interview virtually with federal agencies for job opportunities across the country. Candidates who meet agency requirements may receive tentative offers.

The virtual event is the first in a planned series of hiring fairs connecting early-career candidates with federal hiring teams. It supports OPM’s broader effort to bring more than 30,000 early-career Americans into federal service and advances the Administration’s Merit Hiring Plan. OPM’s fiscal year 2027 staffing guidance sets a governmentwide target for early-career talent to make up at least 33 percent of new external hires, or roughly one in three.

“On October 29, early-career Americans will have the chance to interview directly with federal agencies for opportunities across the country, including in fields like human resources, finance, and procurement,” said OPM Director Scott Kupor. “Candidates who meet agency requirements may receive a tentative offer. We are opening more doors for talented Americans to build meaningful careers serving their country. This is the first of many opportunities to connect them with federal service.”

The October 29 fair is invitation-only. Invited candidates should follow the scheduling instructions provided to them.

Americans interested in federal careers can explore career paths and join the Early Career Talent Network to learn about future opportunities at EarlyCareers.gov.
