Women's Equality Day
Please join me in commemorating Women’s Equality Day this Saturday, August 26, 2017, which marks the 97th anniversary of national women’s suffrage. On this date in 1920, the 19th Amendment of the United Sates Constitution was passed, granting women the right to vote. In 1971, 51 years later, the U.S. Congress established Women’s Equality Day.

Fourth of July on the National Mall
For more than half a century, the National Park Service has been at the heart of the Fourth of July festivities on the National Mall – coordinating the fireworks and concert on the Mall, and co-sponsoring the National Memorial Day Parade and A Capitol Fourth, the all-star salute to American independence broadcast live from the West Lawn of the Capitol.

Presidential Management Fellows Program Announces Class of 2017 Finalists
Today, the PMF Program announced the finalists from the class of 2017. Applicants have been notified of how to check their status, and a complete list of finalists is available at PMF.gov. Selection of finalists is based on eligibility and completed application, assessment scores, and workforce planning estimates provided by Federal agencies. Congratulations to the Class of 2017 Finalists!

OMB and OPM released Federal Civilian Hiring Freeze Guidance. This guidance also provides information on exemptions, as well as instructions on how departments and agencies can request exemptions from OPM for critical situations where additional exemptions may be warranted.
