Yes. Due to reporting issues, we try not to reuse a POI Code within five years of discontinuing it. There are some exceptions. If you are unsure of when the POI was discontinued in order to determine if its beyond five years and whether it is appropriate to reuse the POI Code, send an email with your questions to POI@opm.gov.
