Surge in Retirements

For more than 50 years, federal retirements have been processed largely on paper, until now. OPM recently launched the Online Retirement Application system, which allows HR, payroll providers, and retirees to submit and review applications electronically. It also integrates with our digital file system and annuity calculator to speed up processing 

This is a major modernization milestone. While we’re not at “instant retirement” yet, these tools are already helping OPM process applications faster, reduce errors, and expand the number of retirees receiving interim pay within 30 days.
