Rules of the Road

Here are a few simple ground rules to make sure this site is and remains valuable for the Federal Training and Development Community.

  1. If you intend to post new content, please proof-read it and fact-check it before you post it. Though the wiki is moderated, you are ultimately responsible for the correctness of your content. Content not deemed appropriate will be promptly removed.
  2. If you intend to modify someone's content or have a question as to its validity, as a matter of professional courtesy, please contact the author directly before you modify it.
  3. If you use wiki content in academic or professional writing, please give credit to the proper authors when due.
  4. Do not post or share any content that infringes upon or violates the copyright, trademarks or other rights of any third party.
  5. Do not post of share content that is obscene, pornographic or sexually explicit; depicts graphic or gratuitous violence, makes threats of any kind, intimidates, harasses, or bullies anyone or is derogatory, demeaning, malicious, defamatory, abusive, offensive or hateful.
  6. Do not post or share any personally identifiable or private information of any third party.

Wiki Sharing Tips

Offer your comments:  Feel free to make comments on everyone else’s ideas and writing via the “Discuss” tab at the bottom or each wiki page.  Challenging and supporting others’ ideas keeps the conversation going and helps generate more “out of the box” thinking.

Edit in your area of expertise:  Feel free to edit your colleague’s pages, and feel flattered when they help out by editing yours.  This is essential for a successful collaborative effort and helps to increase the quality of the pages.

Be precise:  You want your fellow collaborators to know exactly what you mean so watch your spelling and grammar.  While OPM does have a “gardening” process in place to cosmetically edit pages for redundancy, formatting, etc., be sure to read and re-read your writing to catch any errors before you publish the content.

We hope that you will find the OPM wiki insightful and use this resource to perpetuate collaboration among our colleagues governmentwide.

Consider joining OPM's Training and Development Policy listserv.
