Federal Government in the Washington, D.C. Area to Remain OPEN on June 12, 2018

On Tuesday, June 12, a victory parade will be held at 11:00 a.m. in honor of the Washington Capitals winning the Stanley Cup. The Federal Government in Washington, D.C. will remain “OPEN.”  The White House is encouraging Federal agencies to grant employees in the Washington, D.C. area two hours of administrative leave between the hours of 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to attend the parade.

To help alleviate traffic congestion, agencies may authorize telework or other workplace flexibilities at their discretion.  Employees may also request to use their alternative work schedule day off, annual leave, or other authorized time off. Employees should contact their agency human resources offices for assistance. Visit the Chief Human Capital Officers (CHCO) Council website to view the complete memo.
