Retirees can make direct post-tax premium payments from their retirement pay for their dental coverage. If your retirement pay does not cover your premium payments, then you can pay for your dental coverage via automatic bank withdrawal. Credit card payment is not an option under FEDVIP.

FEDVIP vision plans are designed to cover routine eye exams and vision correction without a referral, low vision exams and aids, eyeglass frames and lenses or contact lenses instead of glasses at many eye doctor offices or optical retail stores, and discounts on laser eye surgery. FEDVIP vision plans offer lens options such as shatter-resistant polycarbonate; scratch-resistant, anti-reflective, and UV coatings; and tinted and progressive lenses. With four vision carriers to choose from, and both standard and high plan options, FEDVIP offers great flexibility when selecting the right coverage for you and your family.

Yes. In general, the coverage offered under the FEDVIP’s nationwide dental plans is comparable to the dental coverage offered under TRDP. In many instances, FEDVIP dental plans offer better coverage and lower premiums. Under FEDVIP dental plans, in-network preventive services are covered 100%. There are no deductibles when using in-network dentists. Major services such as crowns, bridges, dentures, and implants do not have a waiting period. Some FEDVIP plans offer orthodontic coverage without a 12-month waiting period and without an age limit. With 10 dental carriers to choose from, and both standard and high plan options, the FEDVIP offers great flexibility when selecting the right coverage for you and your family.

We understand that you want to keep your current provider. However, a provider’s participation in a plan is not guaranteed and could change at any time with little or no notice. We encourage you to select your FEDVIP plan based on the benefits offered, rather than by whether or not your provider participates. Detailed plan information, including links to each FEDVIP plan’s provider directory, will be provided once the 2019 FEDVIP benefits have been finalized. We anticipate this happening sometime in October. At that time, you will have the opportunity to see if your current dental provider participates in your preferred FEDVIP plan.
