News: OPM opens CFC for retiree giving
WASHINGTON, DC - OPM has begun to solicit Federal and military retirees for the 2017 campaign.
Retirees have always been able to make a one-time gift to CFC charities. However, this year’s campaign kicks off two new options: the opportunity to make a recurring gift that is deducted from their retirement annuity, and the option to give through the new online donor pledging system - www.opm.gov/showsomelovecfc. They may also get a paper form from OPM or from the local zones.
Retirees and survivors who wish to give electronically may sign up for an account on the new website. There, they can search through CFC’s database of approved charities. Those wishing to submit a paper form instead may visit the website for the zone that covers their regional campaign to download a copy of the form needed. To find a zone based upon zip code, visit OPM.gov.
This is a significant step for OPM to move toward a completely paperless process. It also adds security and confidentiality to the process by working to eliminate the need for a hard copy form that contains personally identifiable information.
