Family members, caregivers, or friends can report the death of an annuitant (federal retirees, survivors, spouses, former spouses, and children) who receives federal annuity benefits.

To report an annuitant’s death, do the following:

  • Visit the Report an annuitant death page
  • Provide the annuitant's information and information for any surviving spouses or children
  • Provide your (as the informant) information
  • Submit your report
  • We will send you a confirmation email that we received your report of annuitant death and will follow up with a phone call or email within 3-5 business days.
